James I. Smith

A civil engineer and a civil man, James I. Smith specializes in site layout, grading, and drainage design and has managed all aspects of a project from client meetings and design and to permitting and completion. Somehow, he accomplishes this without screaming or excessive sarcasm. When a client needs accurate illustrations and easy-to-read reports, James delivers.
He lives in Hardin Valley with his dazzling wife, Cayce, and three adorable little daughters, and can name all the Disney princesses. To restore the estrogen-testosterone balance, James will rebuild the 304 ci engine of his ’77 International Scout, throw some Cornhole, or go for a hike. He also enjoys camping, reading, DIY projects, fixing things, and long stints of front-porch-sittin’.

- Favorite Quote: “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.” ~ Calvin Coolidge
- Guilty Pleasure: A cartoon series called “Family Guy”
- Dork Alert: Enjoys finding typos in printed brochures and advertisements.
